Shawnee National Forest is enclosed with rapid streams, mazes of boulders, steep cliffs, sandstone bluffs, surging waterfalls, secrete caves, deep gorges, and breathtaking overlooks. These magnificent views mold Shawnee into one of the most beautiful locations to ride on horseback in the United States. Shawnee National Forest consists of 280,000 acres encompassing 1,250 miles of multi-use trails, including horseback riding trails, hiking trails, and biking trails. Approximately 225 miles of rugged, challenging terrain is available to horseback riders. This marvelous destination will be featured in the September Edition of The TRAIL Journal.
