Black Hills National Forest, SD - Broken Arrow Campground

Custer, South Dakota

Admin: Liz Heitshusen

Broken Arrow Campground was great! We stayed in their bunkhouse. Nice little cabin like room with a private bathroom. The horses had roomy stalls and cover. We met some wonderful people there who gave us all kinds of tips on where to ride. We rode from the campground and trailer out. The ride to Heaven was beautiful! Nice slow climb and the views at the top were worth it. We rode the George S. Mickelson Trail in two different spots. This is a nicely maintained trail and very easy. The Mystic part of the ride was awesome! Train tunnels and gorgeous views. We overnighted at Hobby Horse Overnight stables in Mitchell, SD. Nice pens for the horses and a very nice owner.
